Elation Health, the clinical-first technology platform for modern primary care success, today announced it has licensed the American Heart Association PREVENTTM risk calculator to be embedded within Clinical Insights, its AI-powered clinical decision support tool within its EHR platform. The American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology (ACC) along with nine other medical colleges released updated cholesterol and lipid management guidelines making the PREVENT-ASCVD tool the new standard for cardiovascular risk assessment on March 13, 2026.
Cardiovascular disease affects nearly half of American adults, with one in four adults living with high cholesterol. The new model replaces older calculators that overestimated heart attack and stroke risk by 40-50%, and now includes chronic kidney disease as a risk factor for the first time. Clinicians were using the features live in Elation Health’s EHR just 10 days after the guidelines were released on March 23, 2026.
Elation drew on its Clinical Insights foundation, powered by Anthropic’s Claude for Healthcare, to bring PREVENTTM into clinician workflows quickly and safely. With Claude’s tools and skills framework, Elation authored and ran more than 2,000 automated tests to ensure its implementation matches the American Heart Association/ACC model and can be updated rapidly as guidelines evolve. In this setup, Claude AI tools accelerate development and quality assurance, while PREVENTTM remains a transparent, guideline-based calculator executed programmatically by Elation’s EHR.

For the new PREVENTTM integration, Clinical Insights can now:
- Auto-fill risk inputs from patient charts
- Calculate 10-year and 30-year cardiovascular risk with treatment recommendations aligned with the latest American Heart Association/ACC guidance
- Enable physicians to explore “what if” scenarios showing how lifestyle changes might lower patient risk
- Display results in both conversational format and structured tables—all without requiring clinicians to change their workflow or leave the EHR
